SHS5 Lewes
Description
Built in 1862 it is an attractive small cottage in a beautiful location on a one-track road leading up to the Downs and the golf course. For those who enjoy walking it is ideal:just a few minutes walk further up the hill brings one on to the open Downs - wonderful walking country. The rooms are all small but attractive and comfortable. The cottage generally is (by choice) not over-endowed with 'mod-cons'. There is a Rayburn (for cooking, hot water, central heating as well as general cosiness) and in addition 2 electric rings installed in the kitchen workshop. There is a washing machine but no tumble-drier and no dish-washer. There is a bath with shower attachment. I do have a small television and DVD player, also a CD player and radio.
Area Synopsis
Lewes is the beautiful county town of sussex, 8 miles from the coast and the cosmopolitan city of Brighton. The house is situated on a hill at the edge of the town, overlooking the rooftops of the Old Town and with the Downs in the distance all around. There are numerous restuarants and cafes within walking distance, and interesting shops abound.
Special Notes
On-street parking is not possible outside the house, but is possible in the street below. You would need to be happy to walk the 100 yds or so uphill to the cottage. There are 4 steps to the front door and a fairly steep flight of stairs to the bedrooms.
